 Brake Services

What should I know about my brakes and your Brake Services?

We repair and service brakes of all vehicle model makes and types.

The parts that make up your vehicle's brake system wear down over time and eventually need to be replaced. The most common brake repair performed is the replacement of brake pads (or shoes). If the pads wear down without replacing them, the metal housing of the pads will start rubbing on the rotors (or drums). This can start to present a safety concern and will eventually cause more extensive damage to the braking system. We recommend watching out for some common signs that your brake system needs a diagnostic. Other than the obvious feeling, hearing, or seeing that something may be different about your brakes, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Does your brake warning light come on when you are driving?
  • Is your brake fluid low, or appear very dirty?
  • Do you hear a grinding sound or a squealing sound when you apply the brake pedal?
  • Do you feel a pulsation or some sponginess in the brake pedal when it is depressed?
  • Does your vehicle steer or pull to one side when braking?

Please seek a diagnostic for you brakes if these questions relate to you. Prolonging a brake problem will generally only escalate the problem.

 Oil Change

Our Oil Change Service is much more than just an oil change. We help to keep your vehicle operating safely on the road as much as possible.

Oil Change Service

Our technicians will perform the following on your vehicle.

  • Replace oil (up to 5 quarts) with premium Mobil oil.
  • Replace oil filter
  • Inspect and fill as needed:
    • Transmission fluid
    • Battery fluid
    • Power steering fluid
    • Windshield washer fluid
    • Grease chasis
    • Front and rear differential
  • Clean interior flooring
  • Check tire pressure
  • Inspection the following:
    • Antifreeze/coolant levels
    • Air filtration system
    • Serpentine belts
    • Brake fluid level
    • Wiper blades
    • Front and back lights

Why it's important: It's preventive maintenance to change, inspect, check/fill and clean essential components of your vehicle and help keep it all operating smoothly. You'll have the peace of mind knowing that your vehicle will be performing at it's best.

 Drivetrain

The drivetrain serves two functions: it transfers power evenly from the engine to all drive wheels and it varies the amount of torque. The drivetrain may include the differential, a transfer case (in four-wheel and all-wheel) drive cars and the transmission.

Differential Service

Our technicians will remove the old differential fluid and replace it with new lubricating fluid based on your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.

Why it's important: The differential is a special gear box located between the drive wheels of your vehicle. It allows the drive wheels to turn at different speeds, as they must when turning a corner. Over time, high operating temperatures can cause the lubricating fluid in the differential to break down, developing a gummy texture that doesn't properly lubricate the gears. Replacing the fluid can help you avoid premature wear on the gears in the differential, and can even help reduce wear on drive-wheel tires.

Transfer Case Service

Our technicians will drain the old fluid in the transfer case and replace it with new fluid that conforms to your vehicle manufacturer's recommendation.

Why it's important: The transfer case is a special gear box found in four-wheel and all-wheel-drive vehicles. It sends drive power from the engine to the front and rear axles. In all-wheel-drive vehicles, the transfer case helps to shift power from one axle to another, depending upon traction conditions. Lubricant fluid in the transfer case helps to keep its gears cool and turning smoothly. Replacing this fluid at appropriate intervals can help prevent premature wear and damage caused by contaminated or broken-down lubricant.

 Tire Rotation

Tires may wear differently depending on their position on the vehicle, your driving style and the condition of your suspension. Regularly rotating your tires can evenly distribute their wear-helping you get the most miles out of your tires while maximizing traction on all four wheels.

Tire Rotation Service

Our technicians will change the position of vehicle's tires according to your vehicle and tire manufacturers' recommended rotation pattern.

Why it's important: Helps maximize the life of your tires.

 Engine Services

What should I know about my engine and your Engine Services?

We repair and service engines of all vehicle model makes and types.

Engines require a tune-up every now and again. This will help keep it running smoothly and efficiently without coming across more major damaging effects. A tune-up generally includes:

  • Visual inspection of engine components.
  • Installation of new spark plugs.
  • Set timing and idle.
  • Fuel system cleaning.
  • Installation of an air filter.

Some of these services may vary depending on your vehicle's needs. Vehicles that require more than just a basic tune-up to keep it healthy may need additional services as follows: Oil & Filter Change, Lubrication Service, Fuel Filters, Fuel Pump, Crank Case Vent Filters, Vapor Canister Filter, PCV Valves, Ignition Wires and Module, Engine Sensors, Coil Packs, Distributor Cap and Rotor.

 Air Filtration

A critical part of the combustion process actually involves the air. The engine air filter captures airborne contaminants such as dirt, dust and even bugs before they can enter the engine. Issues that can arise due to poor air filtration include poor acceleration and lower fuel economy. When you accelerate your vehicle the filtration system helps filter the air's contaminants and ensure the correct mixture of air/fuel entering the engine.

Engine Air Filter Service

Our technicians will remove the engine air filter inspect it. If necessary, a new, clean engine air filter will be installed.

Why it's important: Helps ensure optimal fuel combustion and engine performance.

Cabin Air Filter Service

Our technicians will visually inspect the cabin air filter and replace it if necessary.

Why it's important: Helps improve interior air quality. The climate control system in your passenger cabin includes a filter element that works to lower the amount of contaminants entering your vent system such as dust and pollen from the air you and your passengers breathe.

 Electrical System

The battery supplies electrical power to the starter, along with the rest of the electrical components of the vehicle, which is necessary to start the engine. When the engine starts running, the charging system takes over to provide electricity to the various vehicle electrical systems. The battery cable terminals connect the battery to the electrical system.

Battery Diagnostic Service

Our technicians will test the vehicle starting and charging system components.

Why it's important: Tests the battery and charging system components and provides early detection of battery problems to help ensure your vehicle will start when you need it.

Battery Replacement Service

Our technicians will perform a visual inspection of the battery, use testing equipment to check cranking amp capacity of the battery, connect an external electrical power source to the system to prevent loss of power to digital clocks, door locks and other systems, and remove the old battery and replace it with a new one.

Why it's important: Replacing a defective battery helps ensure your vehicle will start when you need it.

Battery Terminal Cleaning Service

Our technicians will perform a visual inspection of battery cable terminals, prevent loss of power to digital clocks, door locks and other systems by connecting an external electrical power source to the system, remove the battery cable terminals from the battery, clean and replace the battery posts, reconnect the battery cable terminals, coat the battery posts and cable terminals with a protective spray.

Why it's important: Provides a complete connection maximizing the performance of your vehicle's battery.

Battery Terminal Replacement Service

Our technicians will perform the same steps as are performed in Battery Terminal Cleaning except that a replacement of the battery posts will occur instead of a cleaning of the existing battery posts.

Why it's important: Provides a complete connection maximizing the performance of your vehicle's battery.

Light Bulb Inspection & Replacement Service

Our technicians will check and test all of your vehicle's exterior lights. And at your request, replace any malfunctioning bulbs.

Why it's important: Your exterior lights, headlights, rear lights, brake lights, turn signals, backup lights and marker lights are essential parts of your vehicle's safety equipment. They are the main ways that you see the road and are seen by other drivers.

 Transmission

Transmission gears deliver power from the engine to the drive wheels, shifting automatically to provide the best power and efficiency for your driving speed.

Automatic Transmission Drain and Fill Service

Our technicians will remove the transmission fill/drain plug to remove the old automatic transmission fluid. Then they will reinstall the transmission fill/drain plug. And lastly they will fill the transmission with new automatic transmission fluid to the proper level.

Why it's important: Automatic transmission fluid lubricates, cools and cleans internal components of the transmission. It also helps to maintain the hydraulic pressure necessary for the transmission to function. The additives in the transmission fluid can be depleted over time.

Automatic Transmission Filter Replacement Service

Our technicians will remove the transmission pan. Then they will remove the old transmission filter and replace it with a new transmission filter. Next they will remove the old gasket material and replace the pan gasket with a new gasket and reinstall the pan. Lastly they will refill the transmission with new automatic transmission fluid to the proper level.

Why it's important: The automatic transmission filter helps remove dirt and contaminants from the automatic transmission fluid.

Manual Transmission Service

Our technicians will evacuate the old manual transmission fluid and then fill the manual transmission fluid with the manufacturer's recommended type and quantity of new fluid.

Why it's important: Manual transmission fluid provides lubrication to gears, bearings, shafts, and other internal components. Heat, pressure and friction can slowly breakdown the additives in the manual transmission fluid. In addition, small particles of metal may come off the gears as they wear and these metal particles can mix with the fluid.

 Fuel System

The driver ultimately controls how much fuel and air an engine takes in every time the vehicle's gas pedal is pressed. The pedal tells the throttle valve how much air to let in and the computer tells the fuel system how much fuel to deliver. Before being sucked into the combustion chamber of an engine cylinder, these calculated amounts of air and fuel are typically mixed together. There the spark plug ignites the mixture, producing the controlled burn that powers the vehicle.

 Gas Mileage

What things can I do to improve my gas mileage?

Here are some helpful tips.
  • Avoid using the A/C on short trips. For highway driving, it is more efficient to use the A/C based on vehicle aerodynamics with the windows up.
  • Take advantage of cruise control on highways to maintain a consistent speed and save gas.
  • Avoid excessive idling. Cars with larger engines typically waste more gas.
  • Avoid revving a cold engine to warm it up.
  • Avoid topping off the gas tank. In warm weather, fuel can expand, causing an overflow.
 Pre-Trip Check-Ups

What things should I check prior to a road trip?

Try this 10 Minute Check-Up.
  • Check all fluids. There are several fluids, in addition to antifreeze, that require attention, including engine oil, powering steering, brake and transmission fluids and windshield washer solvent.
  • Check hoses and belts. A belt that fails can affect the electrical system, air conditioning and power steering, as well as the cooling system. Cooling system hoses may be deteriorating from within, so old hoses and clamps in marginal condition might need to be replaced.
  • Check the tires. Check tire inflation and inspect the tread for uneven wear, indicating the need for wheel alignment. Also look for bulges and bald spots.
 Radiator Fluids

Should I use Antifreeze or just water in the radiator?

General points to remember.
  • Your car's engine makes enough heat to destroy itself so a cooling system is needed.
  • Antifreeze mixed with water at a 50/50 ratio provides freeze and boiling protection.
  • Too much antifreeze can cause heat transfer problems which can result in overheating. If you experience overheating, turn the A/C off and the heater on to help remove heat from the coolant. If the engine temperature light comes on or the gauge goes into the red zone, the engine should be turned off quickly and allowed to cool down to avoid costly engine damage.
  • Using plain water will start a rust process that is almost impossible to stop.
  • Rust particles deteriorate the entire cooling system, water pump, radiator, hoses and thermostat.
